The Bloemfontein taxi driver who allegedly assaulted a female traffic officer is expected to reappear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate\u2019s Court on Thursday (09\/02). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 32-year-old man faces charges of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm; obstruction of an officer while executing her duties; and damaging state property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident, which took place in Dr Belcher Road on 31 January, went viral on social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mangaung Metro officer, operating from a marked vehicle, was apparently attacked upon requesting that the man produce his driving licence and operating permit. She had stopped the taxi as part of her daily routine duties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon this request, the taxi driver became enraged and acted aggressively towards the officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
