Budding netball players of about 30 primary schools in the Free State have ample chance to showcase their talent when representing their schools in a mini netball festival in Gauteng, the Free State and Western Cape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event started on 15 April, with the Free State hosting three festivals of 18 in total this year. Gauteng will host ten and the Western Cape five. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition is a partnership between South African Schools Netball (SASN) and title sponsor Pep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Known as the Pep Mini Netball Festival, it is affording scores of budding girl stars between the ages of eight and ten the opportunity to launch their sporting careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith our commitment to caring for the communities in which we operate, we believe we have found a sport and partner that shares the same ethos of encouraging self-belief in our communities,\u201d said Beyers van der Merwe, chief marketing officer of Pep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the store was further extending its community reach to young girls through this initiative, which envisages giving schools netball a much-needed boost and promote the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
