Heightened security measures will be in place for the duration of the Bloem Show\u2019s 140th edition, commencing on Thursday (27\/04) in Bloemfontein. The event, scheduled to run until 6 May, is exempted from load shedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBloem Show is exempted due to high security risks and the safeguarding of more than 6 000 animals, participants, exhibitors and more than 100 000 visitors,\u201d said Elmarie Prinsloo, chief executive officer (CEO). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are standby generators. This provision excludes any possibility cable theft or transformer malfunction. However, in these circum\u00adstances emergency lights will be functional.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prinsloo said the plan was to make this year\u2019s show memorable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe spirit is good and positive. We cannot and will not let load shedding get our spirit or celebrations down!\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A range of proudly South African products will be showcased. These range from 289 entrants for the Dairy Product competition, to 21 agricultural championships, and 2 065 creative handicrafts and art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patrons stand to save money on tickets during the event\u2019s ten-day celebration. Early birds who purchase tickets before today (26\/04) at 17:00 will pay discounted prices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will get a R10 discount on admission tickets, which excludes ticket prices on half-price day. The offer does, however, apply to double the funfair tokens. For R600, visitors will get 48 tokens instead of the usual 24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other specials include a R50 discount on unlimited funfair ride tickets. These normally cost R300, but until today it is only R250. Ride tickets are valid until 21:00 on the day of attendance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
