The Caleb Motshabi Table Tennis Club in Batho, Bloemfontein, has received a shot in the arm in the form of much-needed attire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club caters for youthful players, some of whom get selected on their merited performance to represent the Free State at national tournaments and represent South Africa internationally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attire is courtesy of Mahube Tumelo Projects, owned by Bloemfontein-based businesswoman Sinki Leshabane. These caps and T-shirts were presented to the club on 14 April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leshabane said the gesture was part of an community sport upliftment initiative aimed at enabling the club to recruit and nurture more table tennis talent. The ultimate goal is to promote table tennis to become a sport of choice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club trains at the Caleb Motshabi Sport Centre (formerly the Bantu Social Institute). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The centre was renamed in 1999 to honour Caleb Humalebe Motshabi, one of the late stalwarts and commander of the ANC in the Free State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club has, since its establishment 23 years ago, become a hub for table tennis development. It was formed with the chief aim of unearthing and developing talented players, as well as spurring on the sport\u2019s popularity in townships. The club has junior and senior players, competing in the U13, U15, U18 and senior categories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
