The Charmza Literary Club will mark Africa Day on 25 May by hosting a storytelling festival themed \u201cAfrica is a Story\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is set to take place at the Bloemfontein Primary School on Thursday from 09:00 until 13:00. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Storytelling, or \u201cditshomo\u201d as it it is known in Sotho, will be based on five story books written by South African storytellers aged from 60 to 80 years old. Stories that are part of African heritage will be narrated in five South African languages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authors include Dr Khotso Nkhatho, renowned author and playwright who featured in the Sotho series Mopheme<\/i>; Ezra Ditsebe; and Mmalosang Rathaba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 3 000 learners of two primary schools in Bloemfontein, Unity Primary and Monyatsi Primary, are expected to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere will be a live narration of the stories for learners to enjoy. These are stories by grandmothers, who always play the important role of teaching and discipline in their lives,\u201d said Charmaine Mrwebi, founder of the Charmza Literary Club and author of several books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Africa Day is an annual celebration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
