Bloemfontein-based long-distance runners Mokulubete Likotsi (38) and Malefane Nkhi (49) are beaming with pride after each received a medal at this year\u2019s Comrades Marathon on Sunday (11\/06). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representing the Free State through the Mangaung Athletics Club, the pair were among the scores of runners who competed in the gruelling race, dubbed the Human Race, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on the downward-run course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkhi attained a silver medal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Likotsi, this is her second medal, having made her debut in the race last year. She won her second Bill Rowan medal, while Nkhi got his fifth silver medal \u2013 inspiring him to secure gold in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is one of my proudest moments and great inspiration, as I am aiming for the top five, a gold medal, and prize money in future,\u201d says Nkhi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He debuted in 2011 and has made strides since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI started in 2011, in an upward-run, attaining silver in 6:43 \u2013 and have not looked back since.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkhi\u2019s best time is 6:05 in a downward-run in 2016. This year he finished the race in 6:57. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
