A horrific accident involving the collision of an Intercity bus and a truck on the N1 outside Bloemfontein on Tuesday (27\/06), has claimed the life of one person. The victim is a woman and has been identified as Primrose Madolwane (47).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was among the 42 people, including the two drivers, involved in the accident. The bus and the truck reportedly collided a few kilometres before the exit point of the R30 road and N1, at about 01:45.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capt. Loraine Earle, provincial police spokesperson, said the truck had loaded ceiling boards. She added that following the tragic death of the woman, a case of culpable homicide, including the cause of the accident is being investigated by the police in Glen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survivors of the accident were admitted to the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein for treatment of injuries and trauma. Survivors include both the bus and truck driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson of the Free State Department of Health, said that 19 survivors were treated in Pelonomi\u2019s trauma unit, with one, a woman placed in the post-trauma unit for resuscitation. He said 17 were discharged while five will have their conditions reassessed after their X-ray results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Mvambi, among the survivors are seven children between the ages of two and 18 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
