Two departements of the University of the Free State (UFS) have signed a memorandum of agreement with the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) to enhance cooperation between these two institutions and support the arts in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Drama and Arts and the Odeion School of Music (OSM) signed this with Pacofs\u2019 head of department, Themba Dlamini, on 26 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Anthea van Jaarsveld, head of the Department Drama and Arts, said they embarked on this collaborative journey to bridge the gap between academia and the arts, where knowledge is nurtured and creativity can flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe arts, in all its forms, possess the remarkable power to transcend barriers and provoke meaningful dialogue. For Pacofs this collaboration signifies a new chapter where the talent of budding artists can be nurtured, amplified and given a platform to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dlamini said this would have numerous positive outcomes like to provide them with real-time work experience, as is already the case with 17 students from the Central University of Technology (CUT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
