Women are still under-represented at senior management level in government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pinky Kekana, deputy minister responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluation in the presidency, revealed this at a review meeting for Free State government to gauge progress in women representation. This was held at Tuscan Rose in Bloemfontein on 28 August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kekana said representation by women in senior management positions in the public service sector was at 45,2% of the required 50% countrywide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is concerning, 18 years after the adoption of the Department of Public Service and Administration National Policy Framework for Women\u2019s Empowerment and Gender Equality,\u201d said Kekana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has strongly called on departments countrywide to maximise efforts to implement the action plan aimed at attaining the required 50% at senior management level and gender transformation in the workplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
