The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) is in the Free State, assessing the state of provincial and municipal infrastructure capacity to respond to the various needs of the communities. The NCOP is the upper house of the Parliament of South Africa and its delegation conducting site visit in the province is led by Seiso Mohai, chief whip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delegation\u2019s oversight visit at infrastructure projects from 12 to 14 September will culminate with a debriefing session with the provincial leadership in the Fourth Raadsaal on 15 September. The delegation\u2019s first oversight was at the Rustfontein water and sanitation treatment plant in Mangaung yesterday to get a first-hand experience of its viability in delivering water and sanitation services to residents in the metro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is continuing its mission, visiting waste water treatment works and sewer network projects in Welkom, Odendaalsrus, Henneman, and Virginia in the Lejweleputswa district. These infrastructure projects are currently being upgraded to provide basic services to residents. The delegation will also assess progress of construction of the R30 road in Kroonstad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abel Mputing, spokesperson for parliamentary services, said the NCOP delegation will culminate with a debriefing meeting with the provincial leadership and report back on issues emanating from the site visits and the consideration of the draft report on the outcomes of the 2023 provincial week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NCOP\u2019s four-day oversight visits in the province ties with the annual Public Service Month campaign during September. The theme for this year is: Building a professional public service for quality inclusive service delivery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yesterday, the delegation held a meeting with Premier Mxolisi Dukwana and the relevant MECs to get a briefing on the state of provincial and municipal infrastructures water and sanitation as well as economic zones meant to improve the lives of the people in the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
