Mathematics whizz kid from the Jim Fouch\u00e9 High School in Bloemfontein, Jana Rossouw, has proven again she has what it takes after receiving a prestigious accolade at this year\u2019s South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF) competition. She was one of ten recipients of the Old Mutual South African Mathematics Olympiad (Samo), accolades in the senior division (Gr. 10 to 12). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As one of South Africa\u2019s cream of the crop in Mathematics, she was the only learner from the Free State to win a prize. She received a silver medal at the event held at Emperor\u2019s Palace in Johannesburg. The annual competition brings together educators, learners, and industry leaders to display their ability in advancing Mathematics in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rossouw was part of six learners who represented South Africa at this year\u2019s international Pan African Mathematics Olympiads (Pamo) competition, held in Rwanda during May, winning third prize overall. In total, 31 countries in the African continent took part in the competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
