The Charmza Literary Club is calling on aspiring and budding writers to submit applications to be accepted into its writing festival competition targeting young writers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is called the Thaba Nchu Book Festival writing competition and is planned to be held in May in Thaba Nchu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The closing date to submit essays and poetry is 31 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The theme is Thaba Nchu history and the birth of the town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe festival aims to foster literacy, encourage writing and highlight the historical significance of Thaba Nchu as a tourist attraction for the exclusively Tswana speaking community in the Free State,\u201d said Charmaine Kolwane Mrwebi, founder of the Charmza Literary Club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has published and authored numerous books as part of promoting a culture of reading. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis initiative aims to preserve the history of Thaba Nchu while promoting a culture of reading.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said successful candidates would receive incentives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The writing competition is open exclusively to people born in Thaba Nchu, learners, university students, librarians, teachers and managers of early childhood development centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSelected works will be on exhibition, which will coincide with the launch of the festival in May in Thaba Nchu,\u201d said Kolwane Mrwebi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
