The fraud case against a former employee of the Bloemfontein branch of the Jeppe College is to continue in the Bloemfontein Magistrates\u2019 Court on 14 February. The accused, Dineo Rose Mathoka (26), had the matter postponed to the new date during her reappearance in court on Monday, 22 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman has been appearing since November last year. Mathoka is charged with fraud after allegedly defrauding the private institution of R21 000. The matter is a culmination of probing by the Bloemfontein\u2019s Hawks\u2019 Serious Corruption Investigation team after the college opened a case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
WO Fikiswa Matoti, provincial spokesperson of the Hawks, said the college reported the matter after discovering discrepancies during 2021. She said an investigation revealed Mathoka allegedly defrauded the institute by issuing fraudulent tax invoices to students enrolled at the college. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matoti said it is believed the accused took the money, comprising the students\u2019 tuition fees, for personal use. She said the findings revealed she created a fraudulent tax invoice book which she used whenever she would receive payments from students. She said Mathoka would issue them a fraudulent tax invoice each time and used the money for her personal use instead of depositing it into the college\u2019s bank account, as expected of her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
