The national Toyota South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) championships underway in Bloemfontein have lived up to expectations with new records in athletics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The achievers of the remarkable feats are Puseletso Mabote and Simone Kruger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mabote ran a new world record of 25:12 in the men\u2019s 200 m T63 race, and also set a new African record in the men\u2019s 100 m T63, competing in a mixed class final. Competing in a mixed class final, Mabote surpass his previous personal best of 25.81 by over half a second when he crossed the finish line in 25:12 to set a new global best. He continues his fairytale journey at the championships with another African record in the men\u2019s long jump T63 with a leap of 5.93 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kruger set a new African record in the women\u2019s shotput F38 of 12.34 m. The event\u2019s highlights saw an improved performance by Kerwin Noemdo, who equalled his own African record of F46 in the men\u2019s shotput. The three athletes achieved their remarkable feats on Saturday, 23 March, underlining their ambitions to conquer this year\u2019s Paralympic Games to be staged in Paris, France, from 28 August to 8 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
