The Free State bred actor and activist against gender-based violence (GBV), Jane Mpholo, has received recognition for her contribution towards the community and advocacy against GBV. She has been named a finalist for this year\u2019s Fabulous Woman Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mpholo is one of the three finalists for the Fabulous Women End Gender-Based Violence Award. The other two are Sharon Harripersadh and Khethiwe Nene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winners of the nine categories in this competition will be announced on Saturday, 3 August, at a glittering function in Sandton. This year is the 12th edition of the awards, honouring women and girls making a positive difference in their communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The versatile actor fast-tracks activism work through her self-titled entity, Jane Mpholo Pty Ltd., registered in 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI never anticipated this, given this is happening in a very early stage of the company and its social impact. I see this as an affirmation of touching lives positively and I feel inspired, regardless of the outcome at the final,\u201d said Mpholo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sponsor stated that the Mpholo is recognised and celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the arts and her relentless advocacy against GBV through the transformative power of theatre and performing arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mpholo\u2019s activism is of resilience and triumph over tragedies that include a rape ordeal at the age of 13 years, when she was raped by a then 17-year-old boy. She said she has lost both her parents to the HIV epidemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
