A Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, fourth-year radiography diagnostics student, Abigail van den Berg, received the prestigious 2024 Abe Bailey travel bursary. This will enable her broaden her horizons by participating in an international programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Van den Berg is set to travel at the end of November, with part of her tour including the United Kingdom where she will engage with influential leaders in her study field. She is delighted about receiving this scholarship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel honoured to be part of this programme, and I expect to learn as much as I can and use the experience gained to broaden my horizons. I am also excited to meet new, like-minded people and make long-lasting global connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI would like to acknowledge everyone who supported and guided me throughout this entire application process, and I wish to see more of our deserving students participating in these kinds of highly competitive global opportunities,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is another significant achievement for the CUT since the last recipient in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The objective of the Abe Bailey Travel Scholarship aims to broaden the views of young South Africans, expose them to the globalised world, and equip them with exceptional leadership qualities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Annually, these awards are given to academically deserving students who show qualities of leadership and service to others, and have a good track record, not only in their academics but also in a wider social context. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also encourages recipients to engage with diverse cultures and ideas, enhancing their global perspectives and leadership capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
