They first appeared on Tuesday, 27 August , the same day the elite crime fighting unite pounced on them on the strength of prima facie of cooking the books of the institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"embed image\" style=\"text-align:center;\">\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-imageid=\"eec94999-3aa7-4519-95b2-9e07752d3025\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/12070\/492501fd0d2e4829b4f11d181dc51676.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/e8c1c979d9474d34ac322c059e65a1c5.jpg\" style=\"max-width:620px;\"><\/figure><p><\/p>\n<p>Grobbelaar<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>WO Fikiswa Matoti, provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, said the trio were granted bail of R3 000 each with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey face charges of fraud and contravention of Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"embed image\" style=\"text-align:center;\">\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-imageid=\"af46b1a5-b0c8-4f07-bf2b-e1ddcb845923\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/12070\/4b9de7b48db04ae888cfbd7a66442124.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/3289a31e90874cfa9fbd51446c3c3c29.jpg\" style=\"max-width:620px;\"><\/figure><p><\/p>\n<p>Mahlaba<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Matoti said the Hawks conducted in-depth investigation after the South African Revenue Services (Sars), reported the matter after finding discrepancies in the institute\u2019s income tax returns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is alleged that Mangoejane, the company director together with Mahlaba and Grobbelaar, both independent accountants, submitted false company income tax returns to the South African Revenue Service for the tax period from July 2016 to September 2017. As a result, Sars was prejudiced and suffered a loss to the amount of R907 294.02,\u201d said Matoti. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trio\u2019s arrest and court appearance was a result of probing by the elite
