Two students enrolled at the Motheo Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College in Bloemfontein, are in Lyon, France, to compete at this year\u2019s 47th international WorldSkills competition. The pair, Keabetsoe Moloi and Tlhalefo Mophosho, will compete in the category of beauty therapy and graphic design, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were chosen on merit at this year\u2019s South African leg of the competition. The global skills competition officially starts tomorrow, Tuesday, 10 September, and ends on Saturday, 14 September. Other categories include construction and building technology, manufacturing and engineering technology, information and communications, social and personal services, creative arts and fashion, and transportation and logistics. About 1 600 competitors representing more than 60 countries compete in the competition. Moloi will debut at the international event, and Mophosho will make his second appearance. The latter participated in the competition in Iran last year, placing third overall. The competition was held during May, where Mophosho was also voted the best achieving student for South Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both are delighted to participate in this life-changing competition, which will enable them to showcase their level of competencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Busy with his final year, Mophoso said the event provides an opportunity to acquire life-long lessons. \u201cIt is challenging to your creativity, enabling you to experience how things are done differently in other countries. I felt incompetent during my first time, but became confident again after seeing how others performed. I am excited and I hoping to improve this time,\u201d said Mophoso. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moloi is also in the final year of her course, and is hoping to broaden her horizon. \u201cI am very excited about getting an opportunity to acquire valuable experience and learn even more from the competition.
