‘n Sagmoedige reus, dr. Ludwig de Jager (68), wat geliefd was onder sy pasi\u00ebnte, vriende, familie en werknemers van die Mediclinic Bloemfontein, is op Dinsdag 17 Maart oorlede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsabe de Jager, rubriekskrywer vir BloemNuus<\/a> en Ludwig se eggenoot van byna 35 jaar, s\u00ea hul hart is stukkend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ludwig was ‘n sagte mens, bekend vir sy medemenslikheid en omgee.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ludwig het, nadat hy in 1990 sy spesialisering aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat (UV) voltooi het, van 1991 tot 2001 in die akademie gewerk in die oor- neus- en keel-departement aan die UV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die egpaar het daarna 18 jaar lank in Kanada gewoon, waar hy ‘n praktyk in Vancouver Island gehad het. In 2018 het Elsabe na Bloemfontein teruggekeer, en in 2020 het Ludwig gevolg. Hy het eers ‘n praktyk by die Mediclinic Potchefstroom gehad voordat hy in 2022 sy praktyk by Mediclinic Bloemfontein begin het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ludwig is in Oktober verlede jaar met kanker gediagnoseer, waarna hy chemoterapie ondergaan het. Hy het daarna volkome herstel en was kankervry toe hy sowat twee en ‘n half weke gelede siek geword het. Elsabe s\u00ea hy is erg deur gordelroos aangetas, en die inflammasie het vinnig deur sy liggaam versprei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy is op Maandag 9 Maart in die hospitaal opgeneem, waarna hy al hoe sieker geword het totdat hy daar oorlede is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dit was vir ons ‘n groot skok, veral nadat ons gehoor het dat dit soveel beter gaan en dat hy kankervry is,” s\u00ea Elsabe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy s\u00ea Ludwig het weer voluit begin werk n\u00e1 die kankerbehandeling, voordat hy so skielik weer siek geword het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Wat kosbaar is, is dat ons Dinsdag tyd gehad het om afskeid te neem. Dit was baie spesiaal. Hy het vir my ges\u00ea die laaste vier jaar, hier in Bloemfontein, was die gelukkigste jare van sy lewe.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsabe<\/a> s\u00ea Ludwig laat ‘n baie groter nalatenskap as die 68 jaar van sy lewe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In die byna 35 jaar dat ons getroud was, het ons ‘n leeftyd se herinneringe gemaak.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die egpaar se twee dogters, Heidi (34) en Carlie de Jager (29), asook Heidi se man, Rhys Davies, kom volgende week uit Kanada in Bloemfontein aan vir hul pa se gedenkdiens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
