In ‘n tragiese naweek op Bloemfontein se paaie is twee geliefde inwoners in ongelukke oorlede.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die sakeman Soon van den Berg was Vrydag omstreeks 21:03 in ‘n ongeluk op die R64-pad naby die Bainsvlei-begraafplaas. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van den Berg (36), van die bekende kuierplek Die Watergat in Waterbron, was op pad huis toe, toe sy bakkie in ‘n ongeluk met ‘n Renault Kwid betrokke was. Die bakkie het daarna voor ‘n aankomende vragmotor beland.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy is na die Mediclinic Bloemfontein gebring, waar hy vroeg Saterdag aan sy beserings beswyk het.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die vragmotorbestuurder is vir ligte beserings behandel.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saterdag omstreeks 09:30 is ‘n oudleerling van die Martie du Plessis-skool, Louis Smith (19<\/a>), oorlede toe sy motorfiets en ‘n motor in ‘n ongeluk was. Lt. kol. Thabo Covane, polisiewoordvoerder, het bevestig dit was op die kruising van Curielaan en Napoleonstraat. Smith het beheer oor die motorfiets verloor en teen ‘n lamppaal gebots. Hy is deur ambulanspersoneel op die toneel dood verklaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Di\u00e9 is die hoeveelste ongeluk in Curielaan. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lede van die gemeenskap vra oplossings vir die talle ongelukke wat in gevalle soos hierdie lewe eis.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘n Mosie vergesel van meer as 2 803 handtekeninge van inwoners wat vra dat Bloemfontein se paaie veiliger gemaak word, is nie op die raadsvergadering op 29 Januarie aangehoor nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dirk Kotz\u00e9, DA-wyksraadslid wat verlede jaar met die versoekskrif begin het, s\u00ea baie planne kan gemaak word om die stad se gevaarlike paaie veiliger te maak vir almal.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inwoners en woonbuurtverenigings help waar hulle kan, soos ‘n inwoner wat stopstraatmerke geverf het op die kruising tussen Hippocrenestraat en Gasconysingel in Heliconhoogte; maar dikwels is dit net tydelike oplossings.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘n Inwoner wat onlangs van Stellenbosch na Bloemfontein verhuis het, skryf in ‘n brief aan BloemNuus hulle raak nog gewoond aan die tekort aan dienslewering hier.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ons het wel met ‘n skok die gevolge van die slegte dienslewering eerstehands ervaar. Ons was onlangs by die huis toe ons ‘n harde slag hoor en uitstorm. ‘n Minuut of twee later het die huurders van die woonstel op ons erf ingedraf gekom. Hulle was pas in ‘n motorongeluk.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die rede vir die ongeluk was dat daar geen strepe en geen padtekens by die kruising was nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selm\u00e9 Pretorius, DA-wyksraadslid hier, s\u00ea dit is ‘n reuse-probleem. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Daar is oral in Heliconhoogte en Pentagonpark swak gemerkte kruisings,” s\u00ea sy.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met haar hulp, en n\u00e1 inwoners se ontevredenheid oor motors wat erg in Gascony-\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

singel jaag, het die metro wel die kruising by Danie Pienaar-\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

singel geverf.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In heelwat strate is die verkeersmerke baie dof of glad nie meer sigbaar nie. In dieselfde asem is daar ook dikwels geen verkeerstekens nie, of dit is glad nie meer duidelik nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kotz\u00e9 s\u00ea in sy versoekskrif<\/a> dat lewe in gevaar gestel word deur swak padtoestande geskep deur probleme soos slaggate, verweerde padmerke en verkeersligte wat nie reg werk nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die versoek is dat die Mangaung-metro wetgewing verbeter en oortreders swaarder strawwe opl\u00ea.Inwoners meen daar moet baie meer sigbare verkeerswetstoepassing wees.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kotz\u00e9 vra dat die inkomste uit verkeersboetes slegs gebruik word om onderhoud en veiligheid van strate in Mangaung te bevorder.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deel van die versoekskrif is dat spoedkameras in gevaarsones en plekke waar bestuurders onverskillig ry, opgerig sal word. Spoedverminderingsmaatre\u00ebls soos spoedwalle en verkeersirkels in ho\u00eb-risiko-strate word ook gevra. ‘n Belangrike versoek is dat die metro alle reflekterende padtekens sal herstel, verkeersmerke in die metro sal oorwerf en sal seker maak dat verkeersligte werk.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Covane s\u00ea sake van strafbare manslag is geopen en die ongeluk in Bainsvlei, asook die een in Curielaan, word ondersoek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
