Daar gaan gereeld klagtes op oor Bloemfontein se twee stortingsterreine en die VF Plus het nou ook sy stem bygevoeg om die Mangaung-metro aanspreeklik te hou vir die wanbestuur van di\u00e9 terreine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
VF Plus-wetgewerlid Armand Cloete het Woensdag 7 Januarie ‘n brief aan die kommissaris van die Suid-Afrikaanse Menseregrekommissie gestuur waarin gevra word dat di\u00e9 instansie die toestande by die noordelike en suidelike stortingsterreine ondersoek.<\/p>\n\n\n\nVoertuie op die suidelike stortingsterrein wat nie gebruik word nie. “Die noordelike en suidelike stortingsterreine hou ‘n ernstige en voortdurende omgewings- en gesondheidsrisiko vir omliggende gemeenskappe in,” s\u00ea Cloete in die brief. “Voortdurende uitdagings sluit in gereelde en onbeheerde brande, onvoldoende afvalbedekking, swak terreinbestuur, giftige rookvrystelling, onwettige storting buite die stortingsterrein se grense, onveilige en soms ontoeganklike ingange en chroniese tekorte aan operasionele hulpbronne soos masjinerie, voertuie en diesel.”<\/p>\n\n\n\nVF Plus-raadslede doen inspeksie van die noordelike stortingsterrein. Cloete s\u00ea hierdie mislukkings het gelei tot onbeheerde stortings langs openbare paaie en aangrensende grond, wat inwoners se gesondheid, veiligheid en welstand direk be\u00efnvloed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valerie de Kock s\u00ea die noordelike stortingsterrein is in ‘n baie beter toestand as die een in die suide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In die suidelike stortingsterrein is daar steeds baie mense wat onwettig op die stortingsterrein woon. De Kock s\u00ea daar is ook baie toerusting wat nie werk nie en die publiek stort in hope vullis buite die terrein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Een man wat ‘n vullisverwyderingsdiens bedryf, s\u00ea die pad binne die noordelike stortingsterrein waar vullis afgelaai word, is goed en hulle kan maklik daar omdraai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tydens die VF Plus se besoek Dinsdag, was die noordelike stortingsterrein bedrywig en die vullisverwyderingsvoertuig van AfriForum het ook daar ‘n draai gemaak om vullis af te laai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die weegbrug waaroor voertuie kon ry, was egter steeds buite werking. Die Mangaung-metro het in Augustus 2025 ‘n tariefverhoging vir die gebruik van die vullisterrein afgekondig, maar dit is nie van toepassing nie solank as wat die weegbr\u00fbe nie werk nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\nDie weegbrug en kantoor by die noordelike stortingsterrein. Dr. Elizabeth Snyman-Van Deventer s\u00ea daar is 15 wagte rondom die suidelike stortingsterrein en 10 binne die terrein volgens die terreinbestuurder daar. By die noordelike stortingsterrein was ook wagte wat by die ingang sigbaar was en mense genader het wat hulp nodig gehad het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cloete s\u00ea met sy besoek aan die suidelike stortingsterrein, was daar baie afval wat buite die grense van die terrein gestort word. “Dit is omdat dit byna onmoontlik is om toegang tot die amptelike ingang te kry. Hierdie voortdurende toestand weerspie\u00ebl sistematiese nie-nakoming eerder as ge\u00efsoleerde operasionele mislukkings. Artikel 24 van die Grondwet waarborg almal die reg op ‘n omgewing wat nie skadelik is vir hul gesondheid of welstand nie, en verplig die staat om redelike wetgewende en ander maatre\u00ebls te tref om besoedeling en ekologiese agteruitgang te voorkom,” s\u00ea hy in die brief aan die kommissaris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
