{"id":263838,"date":"2025-06-11T15:46:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T13:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnuus\/?p=263838"},"modified":"2025-06-12T08:28:37","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T06:28:37","slug":"demonstration-on-fire-safety-held-in-bloemfontein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/demonstration-on-fire-safety-held-in-bloemfontein\/","title":{"rendered":"Demonstration on fire safety held in Bloemfontein"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Especially in the cold, dry winter months, fire is a hazard inside the house and outside in the veld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fire Ops SA will have a practical demonstration on Saturday, 14 June from 10:00 to 12:00 in Pellissier at the open field at the corner of Lantern and Pellissier Drives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The will be demonstrations and more information about the Fire Ops Team in Bloemfontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only does Fire Ops SA&#8217;s team in Bloemfontein render fire and rescue services, they also do safety training form homes, businesses or schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the winter safety tips for gas heaters and gas appliances, include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Never leave a gas heater on overnight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep gas heaters away from flammable substances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Store gas cylinders in well-ventilated areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don&#8217;t place a gas bottle on top of a stove during load shedding or power failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooking, stovetop and kitchen fires:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Never leave pots unattended on the stove, especially those containing cooking oil. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure that the stove is turned off during load-shedding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Electricity safety: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install surge protectors in plug sockets to guard against too much current. This not only reduces the risk of fire but also helps to protect your appliances from surge damage.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Don\u2019t overload wall socket outlets with multiplug adaptors and extension
