The Khusela Devine Shelter for Victims of Crime and Violence in Koffiefontein is poised to address the plight of gender-based violence (GBV).
Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana and Motshidisi Koloi, MEC for Social Development, launched the shelter on Friday (25/08).
It is intended to house vulnerable women and children and provide protection, care and support services to victims of crime and violence. The range of services include counselling and court support services. In addition, an environment conducive to healing will be created.
The Free State Department of Social Development will manage this place of safety.
The shelter launch responds to the Presidential Summit on GBV and Femicide.
