The Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, will be celebrating, over the course of four days, a cohort of 3 756 students reaching their academic apex at graduation ceremonies held at its Bloemfontein and Welkom campuses.
The ceremonies are for six faculties: Faculty of Humanities; Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology (FEBIT); Faculty of Humanities and FEBIT (IT); Faculty of Management Science; Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology; and Faculty of Health and Environmental Science.
The Welkom campus graduations start tomorrow – Thursday (04/05) – at the Kingdom Ministries of Christ auditorium, while graduations for the Bloemfontein campus will be at Boet Troskie Hall, starting Monday (08/05).
This will be the first graduation for the newly appointed vice-chancellor and principal, Prof. Pamela Dube.
Seithati Semenokane, spokesperson of the university, says the university will confer 62 master’s and 21 doctoral degrees in addition to the 3 756 qualifications to its graduates.
She says the institution will honour the pioneering woman entrepreneur Daphne Mashile-Nkosi at the Welkom campus by bestowing her with an honorary doctorate degree of Philosophy in Management Sciences (entrepreneurial and small business operations). Mashile-Nkosi is the executive chairperson of Kalagadi Manganese.
In addition, the university will bestow a Chancellor’s Excellence Award in Hospitality Management to George Ellert Cohen, managing director, hotelier, and expert in the hospitality management industry.
