A new international pre-season football tournament, dubbed the Mangaung Challenge, plans to bring excitement to the local football fraternity in Bloemfontein.

While uniting three nations, namely Lesotho, Botswana and South Africa, this one-day event will showcase the football talent that hails from each of the participating countries.

The four clubs featured are two local outfits, Mangaung Unite from Bloemfontein, and D’ General from Botshabelo; the Botswana premier league champions Jwaneng Galaxy; and the Lesotho premier league giants Bantu FC.

D’ General and Unite campaign in the ABC Motsepe League, a third-tier league in the country.

The clubs will test each other’s resolve in the Dr RP Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday (12/08).

They will compete on a knockout-basis to decide the inaugural champions of the tri-nations competition, the runner-up, as well as the third-place achiever.

The international friendly is an initiative of the host outfit, Managaung Unite, owned by businesswoman Sinki Leshabane.

Tickets sell at R20 for a seat in the open stands, or R40 for a space in the grand stand.

Sports fans can purchase tickets from a Computicket outlet at their nearest Pick n Pay or Boxer store, or online at webtickets.co.za.
