The search for a missing teenage girl from Bloemfontein, Machaka Radebe (16), has ended in tragedy. The Bloemfontein police has confirmed that her body was spotted by a passerby today, 4 December, at 02:00 in Phase 9, a settlement in Bloemfontein.

The deceased teenager was reported missing on Saturday, 2 December. This was after she mysteriously disappeared from her home in Thakalekoala Street, Rocklands.

Brig. Motantsi Makhele, spokesperson for the Free State police, said the Bloemspruit police received information about the body of a female found on the field near Phase 9.

On arrival the police found the little girl with a stab wound in her back and was certified dead at the scene,” said Makhele. Earlier the police said Machaka’s brother reported that upon calling his sibling, an unknown male answered the phone, demanding cash and further threatened that his sister will die.

Earlier the police said Machaka’s brother reported that upon calling his sibling, an unknown male answered the phone, demanding cash and further threatened that his sister will die.

It is alleged that upon the unknown man demanding the ransom, the brother immediately informed their mother and they both went to the Kagisanong Police Station to open a case of kidnapping.

According to information the police received, Machaka was last seen by her brother on Saturday, 2 December, at about 12:00 during the day before both went to sleep in their separate rooms.

It is reported that the brother noticed his sibling was not in her bedroom upon waking up at about 12:45. In the event of this, the victim’s brother called her on her phone, coming across the voice of a man who demanded cash.

The police are appealing to the public for their assistance in tracing the suspect(s) who kidnapped and murdered Machaka.
