The police in Tierpoort are asking for the public's help in solving a hit-and-run investigation outside Bloemfontein, on the N1.
Police members are probing a fatal hit-and-run accident outside Bloemfontein.

BLOEMFONTEIN – The police in Tierpoort outside Bloemfontein need the public’s help. They are investigating a harrowing hit-and-run case. The incident happened on Friday 6 February. The incident occurred near marker board N1 – 15 13. OS, on the N1 road.

The police investigation, including forensic continues to find clues in the fatal accident.

Lt Col. Thabo Covane, spokesperson for the police in Bloemfontein, said the police are unable to identify the victim involved, including the vehicle. The person had purportedly been crushed beyond recognition.

He said the frontline service at Tierpoort received a call from the 10111 Center about the accident on Friday at about 22:00. “At the scene, members discovered human remains: flesh, tissue, and bone fragments scattered on the road. There was no motor vehicle at the scene. An orange shirt was also collected from the scene as part of the investigation to identify the victim,” said Covane.

He said the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) experts were summoned to process the scene and that pathology services personnel gathered the remains.

Covane said a culpable homicide case docket was opened at the Tierpoort Police Station for further investigation.
