The brutal murder of a young Botshabelo teacher has sent shock waves throughout the community. The deceased taught at the Refihlile Primary School in Section C, Botshabelo.

According to the police, Fezile Frederick Mnyobisi (35) died due to multiple stab wounds inflicted by his unknown attackers. He was attacked at night on 15 September at a corridor separating the Setjhaba se Maketse Combined School in Section H1.

Lt Col Thabo Covane, spokesperson for the police in the Mangaung Metro, said according to a preliminary investigation, robbery was the motive for Mnyobisi’s murder.

“The deceased was robbed of a green Samsung Galaxy A04s,” said Covane. He added that a murder case was opened at the Botshabelo Police Station for further investigation, and a manhunt was launched to trace the murderers.

Covane added that Mnyobisi was declared dead by the district surgeon at the Botshabelo Hospital. He said the deceased was rushed to the hospital by his wife in a private vehicle.

“The police, together with the district surgeon, examined the victim’s body and found he had multiple stab wounds,” said Covane. He said the police in Botshabelo were alerted by the hospital about a complaint of murder.

The police are appealing to members of the public to assist with information that can lead to the locating and arrest of suspects in this case. Those with reliable information can contact the investigating officer, Sgt Pakiso Elias Maja, on 082-466-8341, or the nearest police station.
