The hearing of the criminal case against three security officers of the Fidelity Security Group is set to continue in the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court on 2 August. The case pertains to their alleged involvement in an armed cash-in-transit robbery that targeted one of the company’s vehicles in Bloemfontein in May.

Molefe Sidwell Molefe (61) and Deon de Lange (48) have been released on bail, while Mzwandile Choko (60) is remanded in custody.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Bloemfontein succeeded in apprehending the trio three days after the robbery.

A group of heavily armed robbers reportedly took an undisclosed amount of cash, along with the on-duty guards’ weapons, after blowing up the vehicle’s vault and drop safe with explosives.

The vehicle was ambushed in broad daylight in McKenzie Street, East End, on 9 May while it was making its way from the company depot to Bloemfontein’s central business district (CBD).
