The Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein duly recognised the nurses for their dedication as the backbone of the health system and saving lives at its annual Life Healthcare G100 nurse event on Friday, 10 May.

This tied with International Nurses Day, annually observed on 12 May, a day acknowledging nurses’ role, preserving the professionalism and giving recognition to the pioneer of the profession, Florence Nightingale.

Messages from the hospital’s executives, along with gifts and vouchers from Life Healthcare and the hospital were presented to the 340 staff. The highlight of the event saw two nurses, Tebello Duma and Frieda Lindeque, receive the special Life Healthcare G100 nurse award, presented annually to those chosen for their excelling that year. Duma is an enrolled nurse, and Lindeque a registered nurse.

“Through Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses awards, we acknowledge our nurses who contribute to our top-class hospital nursing team,” said Hein Rossouw, hospital manager.

“The awards are one of the ways in which we highlight the positive impact of our nursing excellence and quality care. Our nurses deserve to be honoured and recognised for their commitment and dedication to delivering compassionate, thoughtful care to our patients.

“International Nurses Day is an important day on our hospital calendar because it allows us to honour and celebrate our nurses for their incredible commitment to excellence in patient care.

“Our nurses not only work hard to provide quality nursing but they heal the body, mind, and soul for many of our patients with compassion and care,” said Rossouw.
