Mother and her three children back home and unharmed

BLOEMFONTEIN – Four members of the Moipolai family who were reported as missing have been found alive. The police in Bloemfontein confirmed they were found unharmed and have returned to their place in Kgotsong.

The mother, Merriam Moipolai (43); her two sons, Bokang (12) and Lebohang (3); and her daughter Kenalemang (6), had reportedly left their home on 4 February at about 11:00.

Lt Col. Thabo Covane, spokesperson for the police in the Mangaung Metro, said a missing person case was then opened on Friday 6 February at the Mangaung Police Station, prompting an intensive search for all four. The matter was assigned to the Mangaung Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

Covane said a member of the community helped with tracing after reading on social media, FaceBook page about the matter. “A law-abiding citizen who read the message on FaceBook page, traced them and took them to the nearest police station. The mother and her three children were taken back home safe and unharmed,” said Covane.

According to the police, the husband, Petrus Tlhakudi (53), reported them as missing after they did not return home. The woman had reportedly told him she was going to a local shopping complex to fetch grant money.
