The national championship of the South African Schools Hockey Association (Sashoc) continues in Bloemfontein. The matches are taking place at the University of the Free State (UFS), Grey College, the Eunice High School, the St Andrew’s School and the St Michael’s School.

The action-packed event will end with the U16 finals on Wednesday, 3 July.

The U13 tournament, which commenced on 23 June, will end on Wednesday. The U16 matches will start on Friday.

The federation resolved to host the competition in Bloemfontein following last year’s success.

According to Wendell Domingo, chairperson of Sashoc, the competition continues growing in stature with more promising future stars showcasing their talent. This has been attributed to, among other things, the support of partners Spar and Trompie Sport.

Last year, the competition saw 1 948 players participate in the nationals, and 3 482 individuals attended the Sashoc regional tournaments.
