Members of the Free State cabinet will visit schools in line with the back-to-school campaign, tying in with the start of the 2024 academic school year.
The campaign is being conducted on Wednesday, 17 January, and Thursday.
Mxolisi Dukwana, Free State premier, will visit four schools in Qwaqwa. His campaign trail begins at the Sekgompepe Primary School and the Thalabodiba Secondary School. He will wrap the campaign up by visiting the Dinare Secondary School and the Sekgutlong High School on Thursday.
Palesa Chubisi, director of media liaison and strategy in the Office of the Premier, said during the campaign Dukwana, MECs and heads of the departments would present school uniforms and shoes to the needy and qualifying learners across the province.
“The premier, MEC’s and heads of the departments will also encourage learners, educators and parents to work together.
“This assistance will bring a sense of relief to most parents who are affected by prevailing socio-economic conditions in the Free State.
“The visits will give senior government officials an opportunity to assess the state of readiness, address issues such as overcrowding, late admissions and learner and teacher attendance on the first day of the re-opening of schools,” said Chubisi.
