Four miraculously survive, three killed in a fatal accident on Free State road

Another fatal accident on the N1 near Verkeerdevlei in the Free State claimed the lives of three persons, as four miraculously survived with injuries during the early hours of this morning – Monday, 5 August. It is reported the tragic accident involved two light vehicles which collided head-on at about 04:52.

Details are vague as to what caused the fatal accident.

Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the Free State Department of Health, said a hydraulic rescue tool was used to free one person who was trapped in one of the wrecked vehicles. He said the male person is one of the four who survived with severe injuries.

“The survivors with severe injuries have been transported to the Pelonomi Hospital trauma unit, and other two with moderate injuries have been transported to the Windburg Hospital by ambulances from Emergency Management Services (EMS) and ER24 service,” said Mvambi.

He said all the passengers in the two cars were males. “The other three deceased males died at the scene of the accident,” said Mvambi.
