The vastly experienced legal practitioner Adv. Rudolf Britz, has made a generous donation of valuable books to further bolster a community project themed “Bring a Book, Build a Child,” pioneered by local publisher Trevor Mokeyane.
Many of these books explore the law as profession and crossover genres to enrich the readers’ knowledge for critical thinking.
Mokeyane initiated the book collection project as an effort to fill the empty shelves of the BP Leinaeng Library in Bloemfontein, bearing in mind the importance of libraries in the development and advancing of a community.
“Libraries are the heart and soul of the community,” believes Britz.
“This is very important work that Trevor is doing for the community; collecting books for libraries, which are beneficial for development and upliftment. We really must help to make his mission possible.”
Britz has pledged to help promote the importance of the library as far as possible.
“It is important for the community to support Trevor in every way possible.
“This is an excellent community project for the benefit of community members and the future generation.”
Britz decided to make the donation after reading an article that BloemExpress published in September, which is Literacy Month. Mokeyane’s initiation of the book collection project coincided with a Literacy Month campaign, with the objective to foster and promote reading culture.
“I decided to support Trevor because I did not want to dispose of the books and see them go to waste,” explains Britz.
The donation comes as Britz goes on “retirement”. His spell in the legal profession spans over four decades, practicing in Bloemfontein, and hewas part of the board of directors of the reputable Honey Attorneys law firm.
As a director at the law firm, Britz specialised in commercial law and family law, primarily in the High Court.
