Shelly Mona is the deputy director of the Product Development Technology Station (PDTS) at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), and an industrial engineering PhD candidate at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

As a registered professional engineering technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (Ecsa), she upholds the highest standards in her field.

Mona’s academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, which laid the groundwork for her subsequent achievements.

She later specialised in Industrial Engineering and Management, earning a master’s degree in Engineering Management.

In addition to her academic qualifications, Mona holds certificates in Project Management, and Production and Operations Management.

Her professional experience is both diverse and extensive, including roles as a product development engineer, quality engineer, and maintenance engineer.

In addition to her industry roles, Mona is actively engaged in academia.

She serves as an academic programme accreditation assessor for Ecsa and has delivered industry lectures to engineering students, helping bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.

Mona has also contributed to virtual chapter events and has presented and published her research at international conferences, showcasing her expertise and thought leadership.

Her multidisciplinary research interests are focused on innovative approaches to product development, additive manufacturing, quality management, and system dynamics modeling (SDM) and simulation Z a computer-aided approach for strategy and policy design.

Shelly Mona is dedicated to advancing the field of engineering through both her professional work and academic contributions.
