The Heidedal Music Expo is envisaged to lay a solid foundation for the discovery of the Free State’s rich and untapped music talent pool. The stage is set for the indoor boogie night to take place on Friday, 15 March, in the Norman Doubell Hall in Heidedal.
Doors will open to patrons at 17:30, with a music extravaganza starting at 18:00 – scheduled to last until 23:30.
This not-to-be-missed, captivating indoor show will be offering the audience a taste of different genres by home-grown performing artists. The line-up will feature a total of 26 artists, between the ages of six and 36 years, selected from the scores of hopefuls who auditioned over a two-day period during February.
One such performer is the visually impaired gospel singer Thamasanqa Mancho. This 30-year-old who hails from the Free State diamond-mining town Jagersfontein is among the performing acts billed to share the spotlight at the night groove.
Given his place of origin and talent, fans of the singer have dubbed him a “shining diamond”.
This talented artist will be offering the audience spiritual upliftment.
Mancho’s talent is measured with performances at various events, which include the Clash of the Choirs South Africa music competition during the show’s fourth season, which premiered on DStv.
The Bloemfontein-based singer has collaborated with various top-flight artists in other projects as part of his ongoing effort toward musical mastery.
Spanning a diversity of young music acts, the expo makes provision for various genres, namely reggae, Afro jazz, soul, R&B, gospel, rap, musical poetry as well as hip-hop.
The line-up will also feature a crew of DJs who will display their magic of spinning discs to bring the house down, and get dancers to display their dance moves on the floor and stage.
The expo is the brainchild of Baobab Entertainment NPC and is supported by various partners and sponsors, which include the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Reaction, Radio Bloem and Heidedal Live, as well as the Central24 media group.
According to Dr Nathan Bagarette, coordinator and co-director of Baobab Entertainment NPC, the event is critical for the youth to tap into and showcase their talent.
