The Marumo Gallants FC management has roped in the well-travelled Molefi Ntseki as technical director, in line with the club’s aspirations to become a force to be reckoned with among the football elite in the Betway Premiership.

The Bahlabane Ba Ntwa announced Ntseki’s appointment on Monday, 25 November, stating this was a strategic appointment aimed at strengthening the technical department and driving the team’s success on the field.

Proof of successes by the Gallants is managing to reach the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup semifinal under Dan Malesela, head coach.

Sello Nduna, spokesperson for the Marumo Gallants, said the former Bafana Bafana head coach hit the ground running upon agreeing to a three-year deal.

“His work entails providing support to the senior team led by Malesela, the junior team in the DStv Diski Challenge league, and helping to fast-track talent for the team,” said Nduna.

The club pointed out that Ntseki’s cutting-edge knowledge in coaching stood him in good stead for the technical director position.

“His impressive track record and passion for developing young talent makes him ideal for the club. Hailing from Botshabelo, he has a deep understanding of the Free State and residing fans, which is an added bonus to the Bloemfontein-based Gallants squad.”

Ntseki has expressed appreciation for the club showing confidence in his services.

“I was approached by the chairman, Dr Sello, to join the club at a technical management level. I am looking forward to working hard as the technical director. I am here to work with everyone to make this club a success. I want to thank the club as a whole, the coaches, management as well as the supporters,” said Ntseki.

A qualified teacher, Ntseki helped South Africa’s national U17 boy’s team qualify for the 2015 Fifa World Cup in Chile, among other achievements. His illustrious career includes coaching the now defunct Welkom Stars in the semi-professional league along with Harmony Academy, and serving in Bloemfontein Celtic’s technical team during Jimmy Augousti’s tenure.

Ntseki held this position briefly at Kaizer Chiefs, where he later became head coach. This is his first job after parting with Chiefs last season after unfavourable results in league and tournament competitions, namely the MTN 8 Cup and the Carling Knockout series.
