The Kgotsong Clinic in Bothaville is boasting a conducive environment, making it possible to provide optimal outcomes. This followed upgrades by the Free State Department of Health to the tune of R13 584 518.

This refurbishment makes the facility compliant with the basic health standards set out by the Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC), including the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act pertaining to workers’ and the public’s safety.

Mathabo Leeto, Free State MEC for Health, officially opened the clinic on 27 June.

According to Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the department, the upgrade was completed within one year, between January 2022 and January this year. He said the site handover to the contractor was done in October 2021, which managed to create employment for at least 25 people.

“The clinic began operating immediately after completion, and an average of 172 persons are seen daily. Currently, it has ten staff members. The clinic is looking at filling eight vacancies to operate according to the envisaged human resource plan in the staff establishment policy. In addition, the plan is for the clinic to operate for 12 hours, which will require an additional 12 staff members,” said Mvambi.

Meanwhile, Leeto presented blankets to the Nala District Hospital, also in Bothaville. These blankets are for the patients’ use.
