Veteran teacher Modise Rantsieng will launch his cutting-edge book full of facts and information to promote proactive learning and teaching at the Mangaung Resource Centre in Bloemfontein on 27 May.
From an Embryo to a Seed, and to the Lemons and Lemonades is about his comprehensive approach aimed at teaching and enabling learners, and helping them achieve their full potential.
“The book empowers teachers to realise that in their profession they will have ups and downs, lemons and lemonade. They should regard their teaching as a calling, and not allow the lemons to outweigh their lemonade,” said Rantsieng.
The book is broad-based, and introduces educators to the stages of their life in the school environment.
Rantsieng is a teacher of life, having been a prominent English, Mathematics and Science teacher when he was still part of the workforce.
As a football fanatic, he used to write newspaper articles about the sport for City Press, Sowetan, and Express.
He has attained qualifications and gathered experience in Adult Basic Education and Training (Abet), and was seconded to a Primary Science Programme (PSP) by the Department of Education.
During his incumbency at the PSP, he was designated to Botshabelo, Goldfields and Bloemfontein primary schools, where he used to conduct Science workshops for the teachers of this subject.
He also introduced the idea of Parents Pupils Science Day, which became very popular. He became acquainted with this concept during an educational tour through America.
