The Heidedal Parkrun branch in Bloemfontein will mark another milestone, hosting its 250th edition of the race on Saturday (12/08). Open for community participation, this celebratory edition is set to take place at the Clive Solomon Stadium, starting at 08:00.

On 20 May the branch reached a milestone in celebrating its sixth year of existence and reached a record of its 238th edition of the race. The branch was officially launched in 2017 on the date in question.

“This is the first parkrun in Bloemfontein to reach this milestone. We are expecting visitors from around South Africa to join us, as this is a peculiar milestone to have,” said Johan Duvenhage, Free State Parkrun ambassador.

Since the launch, more than 1 801 participants have completed 13 306 runs, covering a total distance of 66 530 km. Significant strides made include 1 782 new personal bests achieved by participants and a total of 269 individuals having volunteered 2 897 times.

This fun-filled activity stretches over 5 km and is open for participation for all sport and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts in the community.

Participants have the choice of three events: walking, jogging, and running over 5 km weekly. Entrance is free for everyone who wants to join in on this commemorative parkrun.

Interested parties can contact Duvenhage on 083-284-9122 or Kuni Ditira on 076-402-0050.
