This year’s edition of Bloem Show will end on Saturday (06/05) with a specially jam-packed entertainment attraction for its patrons. The largest consumer event in central South Africa again had the city buzzing, while celebrating its 140th anniversary.

Entrepreneurs from far afield have descended on the Free State capital to showcase their proudly South African products.

According to Elmarie Prinsloo, chief executive officer (CEO), a total of 313 exhibition spaces were judged, with 45 selected for golden awards and 69 for merit awards.

“The quality of exhibitions was great according to the judges, and resonated with the focus for this year’s exhibitions to have quality and variety.

“An independent panel of ten judges took into consideration aspects such as marketing, neatness, and general impression during the judging process,” said Prinsloo.

She said that, in total, 17 trophies were presented to the best exhibitions selected for this year’s Bloem Show.

Category winners were presented their awards at a breakfast held on Tuesday (02/05).

According to Prinsloo, a new addition to highlight this year’s Bloem Show is the creative handicrafts and art division, dominantly South African, with 2 065 entries.

Activities around the F1 simulator and video gaming arcade, making provision for three tournaments, are in full swing, having commenced on Monday (01/05).

Approximately 128 gamers entered to compete for a prize pool of R2 000 plus an AOC Monitor. On Thursday, 16 participants enter the quarter-finals, with the semifinals and finals set to take place on Saturday.

It is presented by the Ruckus Media Group, which makes provision for exhibitors, gaming tournaments, masterclass presentations, interviews, retro gaming, and much more. There is bound to be something for everyone considered an avid gamer.

The gaming division of the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, has been working with Ruckus Media Group to organise no less than six tournaments for the public as part of Bloem Show’s celebrations.
