A creative design produced by a Gr. 6 learner from Soutpan has won a whopping R10 000 for his school. He was also recognised for his creativity with a brand new Samsung Galaxy tablet.
The talented Morena Mahe, who attends the Kagisano Combined School, was named the ultimate prize winner of the Letsatsi Solar Park Trust’s logo design competition.
He received a standing ovation during the presentation held at the school yesterday, Wednesday (02/08). Morena’s artistic design, which bears a symbol of the sun, was chosen from several entries submitted by learners from three schools: two from Dealesville and one from Soutpan. His iconic design is now a permanent feature on the entity’s logo.
Carolyn Cramer, spokesperson of the trust, has praised Morena for showcasing creativity.
“Having his drawing chosen as the inspiration for the trust’s new logo is a remarkable accomplishment and a source of immense pride for his school, Kagisano Combined, and the entire Soutpan community. The competition succeeded in engaging and empowering young minds within the community.
“By providing a platform for learners to showcase their creativity and artistic abilities, the competition fostered a spirit of participation and encouraged the community’s youth to express themselves,” said Cramer.
Linda Masisi, deputy principal, expressed joy with the learner’s remarkable achievement.
“As a result of Morena’s achievement, the prize of R10 000 awarded to Kagisano Combined School will be instrumental in supporting educational initiatives. I am so happy! There is such potential!”
