The reigning Botswana Premier League champions, Jwaneng Galaxy FC, came out on top in the tri-nations tournament and lifted the inaugural Mangaung Challenge trophy on Saturday (12/08).

The visitors won 6 – 5 via penalties against host Mangaung Unite, as the teams were gridlocked at one-all after regulation time of the one-day tournament in the Dr RP Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Unite won a silver medal, while Bantu FC, the Lesotho Premier League side, trumped Free State ABC Motsepe League side D’ General 2 – 0, scooping a bronze medal.

Galaxy had beaten D’ General 3 – 0, while Unite had piped Bantu 1 – 0, securing a berth in the final of the tournament, which was used by clubs in preparation for the new season.

The organiser, Mahube Tumelo Projects, plans to host the tournament annually, to promote local talent and entertain fans.
