The final of this year’s Miss Plus World International beauty pageant in Bloemfontein culminated in Unathi Nare taking the crown. She was chosen as queen among the equally beautiful Tanya Pike and Matshepo Segole, who claimed the title as first and second runner-up, respectively.

The women were fan favourites after they were named title holders at the crowning ceremony at the Bloemfontein Civic Theatre on 19 August.

As the winner, Nare will represent South Africa at the international leg of the pageant, while Pike and Segole get the honour of ambassadorship.

Exclusively for curvy women, the pageant is a permanent feature on the Bloemfontein calendar. It is held annually during August to tie in with Women’s Month celebrations.

The pageant is organised by the Chief Leeuw Foundation. It is aimed at instilling self-esteem, helping to dispel body shaming, and inspiring plus-sized women to appreciate themselves. It was the sixth time this beauty contest was held.
