A group of 46 civil servants of various Free State government departments have successfully completed life-changing learning programmes.
Their qualifications were bestowed upon them at the graduation ceremony held on 7 September at the Phillip Sanders Holiday Resort outside Bloemfontein.
The graduates attained qualifications in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Public Administration NQF level 5, which is a national certificate; and Public Administration NQF level 6, which constitutes a national diploma.
They are still in the employment of the departments.
The upskilling of civil servants through further education programmes is aimed at improving the service that is delivered by provincial government.
To achieve this, the Free State government has partnered with the Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA).
Furthermore, the government undertakes the training and upskilling of civil servants through the Free State Training and Development Institute (FSTDI). Its mandate is to train officials in generic, transversal as well as public administration qualifications in the province.
The criteria that needs to be met to qualify for the programmes is that a civil servant must have five years’ experience, as well as theory of 18 months.
