The Free State Agriculture (FSA) community has launched a far-reaching programme to curb foot and mouth disease (FMD), which is ravaging the province. The body has launched a livestock traceability and safety system in response to the outbreak.

“Our members mandated the congress to urgently investigate an animal traceability and safety system to mitigate further risks. Our investigation encompassed a wide array of solutions, existing livestock management software, microchips, geo-based, and Internet of Things- (IoT) smart connected systems,” says Francois Wilken, FSA president.
