At the Busamed Bram Fischer Private Hospital, the 110-bed facility is a beacon of world-class medical services, serving both the local community and individuals from the broader Bloemfontein area.
The emergency centre operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is fully equipped to manage any medical emergency or injury resulting from an accident or traumatic event. Clinical care is provided by trauma trained doctors, nursing staff and trauma specialists.

Since April two full-time specialists have joined the Busamed team.
The first of these, having started in this role on 1 April, is Dr R.J. Khalema, MBChB, MMed, FCOG, Cert. MFM (SA), a female obstetrician and gynaecologist, and subspecialist in maternal-fetal medicine.
With her extended qualifications she is focused on treating pregnant women with underlying medical conditions or those at risk of complications in pregnancy. This involves genetic screening, ultrasound and the prenatal diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, as well as taking care of pregnancies with fetal abnormalities.
She also does detailed ultrasounds of the fetus, general obstetric care, antenatal care and deliveries, with postnatal care.
The other addition to the team is neurosurgeon Dr Yandisa Nxakama, MBChB, FC Neurosurg (SA), MMED.
He qualified as neurosurgeon in 2022, and received his MMED at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in 2023.
Nxakama is a passionate, meticulous, and hard-working neurosurgeon who specialises in the treatment of brain and spine conditions for both adults and children.
