A teacher of note, Modise Rantsieng, has published another throught-provoking book to broaden one’s horizons in life. The latest is titled The Mirror, which reflects on marriage and marriage life in general.

This is Rantsieng’s second book, following his debut titled From an Embryo to a Seed, and to the Lemons and Lemonades. The book delves into his comprehensive approach of teaching and enabling learners, and helping them achieve their full potential.

This is a cutting-edge book full of facts, life lessons, and information to grasp.

Rantsieng puts strong emphasis on the responsibilities of fathers, mothers, and children in the family setup. He further highlights the differences between a man, a husband, and a father.

The author opens the eyes of the readers to what is called relationship triangles, which can be interpreted as the radar and navigator of the matrimonial relationship. Rantsieng uses the metaphor of a timid cat looking at itself in the mirror and instead of seeing itself, it sees the face of a lion.

“The aim is to empower all members of a family to embark on a serious, determined, and rigorous introspection. If there is any member of the family who is found to be playing a toxic and detrimental role in the happy family setup, he or she should embark on decisive commitment to declare war against all destructive and toxic factors which negatively impact their holy matrimony.

“This mission should be taken up like a hungry lion which will stop at nothing when it chases its prey. Such decisions should be taken up to maintain and sustain the healthy marriage triangles. Decisions such as these will most likely circumvent the most undesirable decisions like separations and, ultimately, divorces,” said Rantsieng.

The author said the book also highlights the chances of reconciliation where it is possible and desired, as well as how that can be attained.

“This book is ideal for marriage counsellors, church council members, parents, children, and pastors in the religion fraternity,” said Rantsieng.

It is deemed a must-read book for guidance for all age groups because it opens the eyes of all members of society to what marriage is all about and how it should be treated.

“It is an important piece of reading, especially when we consider the ever-growing rate of criminal activities, the level of teenage pregnancy, the magnitude of school drop-outs, the divorce rate and the impact thereof on innocent children,” said Rantsieng.

The author is considered one of the finest teachers of his generation, innovative, and with a marriage having lasted over 40 years. He has extensive and insightful experience of this journey called marriage.

“I was happily married for 40 years until my dear wife succumbed to the merciless and cruel cancer in 2020. May her soul rest in eternal peace. I have experienced almost all the sour and bitter lemons, as well as the sweet and delicious lemonade which make up the relationship triangle,” said Rantsieng.
