Now that the Olympic Games have come to a close, sport stars in the Free State can await the next big sport spectacle with bated breath.

In less than two months from now, Bloemfontein will play host to the Free State Sport Stars awards ceremony.

This annual gala provides the province a platform upon which it can openly and proudly boast with the accomplishments of its sport teams and individual sportsmen and sportswomen, and award them accordingly.

The grand dinner, made possible by the joint efforts of Central24 and KovsieSport of the University of the Free State (UFS), will take place at the Monte Bello Estate just outside Bloemfontein, on Thursday, 3 October. It is scheduled to commence at 18:00 for 18:30.

Ensuring that it becomes a night to remember, will be Vanes-Mari du Toit – who will be the awards host at this year’s occasion. The former Protea netball player and now award-winning TV presenter will later share the stage with guest speaker Jaco Peyper, former South African Rugby Union (Saru) referee and member of the Springbok management team.

Athletes who are still at school level, and even senior level, all stand a chance to walk away with a prize for their nomination in any of the numerous award categories, in addition to being praised for their hard work, ambition, and accomplishments by a room of their peers.

Keep an eye on Central24’s community newspapers in circulation within the Free State Z namely BloemNews, BloemExpress, Vista, and VrystaatKroonZ for more information regarding this year’s nominations, along with any other important details pertaining the evening’s proceedings.

Tickets are available at R460 per seat. Alternatively, sport enthusiasts looking to attend in a group can book a table accommodating up to ten attendees at R4 600.
